25th June 2016: Finishing Touches

Finishing Touches

There have been a lot of developments around the SC10 shuttle controller over the last couple of months.

First of all, the design of the front panel has been finalised. It is black (the first version was blue), and looks much smarter overall. The black panel matches the LCD bezel and the black screws used for assembly, while the engraving shows through more clearly.

On the software side; I've been testing the controller with a variety of decoders to ensure a seamless user experience. The SC10's implementation of the DCC protocol adheres to the DCC specification, and includes more than the required minimum number of byte and packet transmissions to improve packet reception and compatibilty with a range of decoders.

The first batch of controllers will be ready to purchase within the next couple of weeks. As always, I can be contacted directly at contact@midlandscaleregulators.uk, and will be happy to answer any question you may have about the SC10.

18th April 2016: Software Development

Software Development

Just a quick update on progress over the last two months. Some changes have been made to the circuit board for the final release version, including changing the switches for a more reliable tactile type. More components are on order and the first batch of finished controller should be ready to purchase by the end of May.

On the software side, the controller is almost finished. On startup, the controller displays a menu allowing the user to choose between manual mode, shuttle mode, locomotive programming and controller settings. All these modes are implemented; the final stages are incorporating user feedback into the software and testing of the finished software.
